My turn signal (left and right) has decided to just stop working. The dash indicators don't work and the lights on the front and back of the vehicle don't work. The headlights, brake lights, and all other things in the car work fine. I have checked the main fuse box in the engine area, but can't find anything wrong. Any ideas?

There is another fuse box above the hood release inside, located on the driver's side dashboard. Pull the small coin box. Behind it is the fuse box.

On the reverse of the coin box is the diagram for which fuse is for the tail and turn signal.

The turn signal flasher is located in the relay block behind the drivers side kick panel

See the diagram below for location

96,000 miles.

Last night, my turn lights simply stopped working. They were working well, and then suddenly nothing happened when the turn lever was flipped. There is no response on the light panel or in the actual lights themselves. I have checked the fuse, and it looks fine.

One answer on here seemed to indicate that it might be the signal light flasher, but it sounded like if that were the problem, there would be different symptoms. Also, if it is the signal light flasher, how can I locate it?

Thank you.

It is behind the left kick panel.

Do the symptoms sound like an car flasher problem? A friend of mine said that the blinkers were the first thing on her car that went as her alternator was going out. Does that sound possible?

(P.S. How does one give feedback/donations?)

my car does not have turn signal at all. the fuse seems to be good, so I guess the flasher may not work. However, I could not remove the flasher to check. Could you please direct me how to remove the flasher and replace it? Thanks.

1) Using a tiny screwdriver, pry out lightly the "n" as shown in the red arrow just enough to release the flasher relay lock. Do this on both sides of the flasher relay. And then pull the flasher relay.

Electrical problem
1999 Toyota Camry 155563 miles

This is a problem that has happened in the past, "fixed" itself, then reappeared again. A couple of months ago I noticed that when the car was running both of my turn signals would not work at all. (you could not see outside, hear the clicking noise or see the turn light on in the inside) I took it to my mechanic and of course the signals worked just fine for them.(he did not charge me) They have worked ever since until yesterday. We thought at the time that maybe it wasn't really a problem because I hadn't driven the car for a couple of weeks and then the problem occurred. This time I was driving home when it happened and I've been driving the car everyday or every other day. The turn signals worked fine on the highway but at some point on the smaller roads home they stopped working at all. Right now the engine light (the one that signals a problem) is not showing although it was earlier. I was also told to ignore that light on this particular car because they think that the engine light is faulty. (we've taken it in before when it's on and there seems to be no problem each time) Can you help me figure out what is going on with my car and any approx. repair costs to fix it? I would appreciate any help you give!

Hello –

To better assist you is your model the CE. LE, XLE, Solara SE or Solara SLE and what is your engine size in liter?

Please go to Auto Zone (AZ) or O’Reilly’s (OR) and for FREE they can pull the codes to the car. Most important: Once they check your codes, if they find something and you don’t get it fixed and need to get back with us, please make sure you tell us exactly what the code was, number and all. Example, if the code was E0568 O2 Sensor bad. Then make sure you give us all of that. While there for FREE also they can bring their tester out and check your battery and alternator.

We have both left and right turn signals going on when we signal to the left or right, (front and rear) It is just like when the hazard lights are on but it gets activated by the turn signal. No bulbs are out and nothing happened to the car to suddenly cause this. What should I check?

Turn signals not working. Confirmed that it is not a problem with the relay. Was referred to a mechanic that specializes in electrical work. Just wondering what it might cost to fix the the turn signals. The hazards work still. Also windshield wipers not working not sure if it is a related problem.

First suspect is the flasher. Older cars used two different flashers, one to run half the signal lights on one side of the car and one to run all the lights on both sides. Turning on the hazards disconnects the signal lights from the turn signal flasher, which is why they stop flashing, and connects them to the hazard flasher circuit. Since the signals work, we know the bulbs and wiring are okay. That leaves the hazard light switch and the flasher.

Newer cars use an unnecessarily complicated electronic flasher that does both functions, but it has separate inputs from each switch. Failure of those units is much more likely than the uncommonly reliable older thermal flashers.

When I push on my blinker handle to the left real fast the indicator light does not work and when you push it real slow it works like it is suppose to?

I have replaced both bulbs. I have figured out that push the blinker handle fast you can hear it blink but it does not work. If you push the blink handle slow it works like it is suppose to.

Turn Signals on 1998 Camry work fine on one side, but stop flashing after five flashes on the other side. Does a Camry possibly have two flash units? If not, what could cause this?

Hi mjmart,

Thank you for the donation.

Only one flasher unit is used and possible causes for the symptoms are :

1. Failing flasher unit. Though it might work on one side, minor differences in resistance between left and right side would result in the coondition.

2. Improper bulbs used. If any bulbs were replaced prior to this occurring, recheck the bulb specifications.

3. Check wireharness and bulb sockets for looseness or contaminations.

4. Check all ground circuit at the taillights and behind the front headlights.

Turn hazard lights on and note if there are any difference between the right and left side brightness. This might give you a clue to the bulbs specifications and wire connections.

Recheck the battery connection/test all the fusible links/fuses and also check if your brake lites are working-

Won't go in gear could be a problem with the shift interlock system-use the override refer to owners manual.

I have a 1999 toyota camry and my turn signals and hazards lights do not work. The turn signals do not even light up on my dashboard. Every other signal works though. Any suggestion/help would be wonderful.

I checked the fuses and they seem to be fine.

The left turn signal on my '99 Camry (81,000 miles) has started to blink rapidly. The right one still blinks at the normal speed. I have been told that this may indicate a burned out light, but this does not appear to be the case as both the front and rear turn signals flash.

Another option is that the flasher is going bad. If it is the flasher, where is this located and where is the fuse panel?

Thanks for the help,
Dan

Hi there,

Did you check the indicator on the side of the front mud guard? If that's OK problem could be in flasher can.

Hi there,

just check that all the globes are the same wattage and that the guard mounted (on side) if fitted indicators are working as well, the problem will be on the side that is flashing faster.

you will have to check the globe holders for corrosion and poor contact on the side that was flashing faster,
