Just after freon was put in it all leaked out from a small hole in the condensor..it only leaked from one small hole in the center of the condensor, does the entire condensor have to be replaced or is there another way to repair or patch this leak? There are no other problems with my air conditioning, I just needed to have freon added.

The manufacturer and all shops will tell you that your condensor must be replaced.

But I'm a metal fabricator as well as a mechanic, and I know a condensor can be fixed.

A condensor is simply a heat exchanger, which is the exact same as a radiator. If the hole/crack is readily accessable, then it can be patched by either "TIG" welding or "Brazing". But you better have some good skills if you attempt this yourself. If not, then just call up a few metal fab shops and ask them if they'd do it for you.

HI there,

I must disagree, yes it is a heat exchanger but it will not be a good idea to try and repair it, firstly this will be a fatigue crack and it wont be the only one, others will open up in time, secondly and more importantly you will not be able to guarantee that there will be no foreign materials in side the tubes you may be able to blow it out, but this system must be spotless and perfectly dry when re assembled, particles of weld splatter no matter how small will damage compressors and the TX valve orifice, and this may cause you expensive repairs, save time and money and get a new condenser, new after market units are not expensive at all.

I agree that a new condenser is the best way to go, and they aren't expensive at all. But the question "Can a condenser be repaired?", the answer is "Yes" it can be repaired.
And in fact, some damaged condensers are repaired and resold as "Remanufactured" units. They do this all the time, including radiators, heater cores and oil/transmission coolers.
Now having said that, it would be more cost effective to just buy a new one. (and worry free) But the answer to the question remains the same.
