I had a rebuilt, not used, engine put in a 98 Camry. After it was installed the temp gauge would read 3/4 to 7/8 hot. I wasn't sure if the gauge was working correctly, so I installed an aftermarket gauge and see that it climbs to about 210. It will run at 195, or so with the heater running.
The water pump is new. The ECT is new. The rad fan switch is new, and both fans run, slow and high speeds. The rad is squeaky clean and flows good; it has been flushed. The thermostat is new and has been tested. Basically, every part of the cooling system is new, clean, and/or has been checked.
I know advanced timing will cause the car to run hotter than normal, but i have no check engine light on. Is there any other sensor, emmision control device, or PCM malfunction that will cause the engine to run hot?
I am at wits end with this. I don't want to ruin this new engine.
