Recently, I began smelling gas inside my car when idling and asked a friend what it could be. He is convinced it is the catalytic convertor (he gave me a really sound reason for it, but cannot remember what it was). Is that something I can do easily? How can I go about getting it done inexpensively?

Thank you for your kind assistance.

Well, if you want the cat. converter done then you should get one form the dealer. The aftermarket converters will light your check engine light on(not sure how quick, but it will).
