Hi,
Recently I was driving my car and noticed it began acting as if the battery was dying, while I was driving. My first thought was the alternator, and continued driving as long as the car would let me. When I stopped, I had the car jump-started, and disconnected the battery. The car ran for a good five mins, so I attempted to make it home. About 5 minutes later, the car began doing the same thing, and I came to another stop. I had the battery tested, which as bad, so i got a new one. The car will not turn over, the door locks or windows will not work, or the headlights. The ONLY thing that will come on are the flashers. There was a blown fuse under the hood, that I changed, but still, nothing. Could this be a fusible link? I have never seen this problem with any car I'ved owned. Please help.

Thank you,
Jason

With a bad altinator the car will run as long as you don't use power for things like lights radio heater. the engine will run for a while before the battery goes dead. Even with a dead battery the car will run with the altinator itself. Try after starting the car, disconnect the negative side of the battery. If the car still runs then the altinator will be putting out voltage. If it shuts off then have the altinator checked , they can do this at most any auto zone or auto part store.
