Hi,
Just a little help please.

[First the end of the drivers side half-axle broke/sheared off, from where the c-clip was]
After the tow home I replaced the half axle. It 'popped out' after the first turn.
I had tried to push it in from the ridges around the inner cv-joint and also tapped the axle nut slightly while it was threaded only a few turns onto the 1/2 axle {with everthing back in place}. It seemed like it was in. With the one wheel off of the ground in Park the axle wouldn't turn. Obviously it wasn't all the way in..

How do I make sure that it is all the way in?
Should I push the half axle in with the transmission in Nuetral or Park?

Thank You,

You won't be able to turn the axle with the transmission in PARK. It is the LOCKED position. Need to pull the transmission to NEUTRAL and re-check.

On a side note, you should feel to "click" when the c-clip is locked in place in the transaxle.

I have put it back in a few times now..
Yes carefully pushing on it until I though that I felt the c-clip click and ..banging with a small block of wood on the ridges on the inboard cv joint with the transm in neutral and then checking and rechecking while in Park.
Any other ideas?

I wonder why the end broke off of the half axle the first time?
{I hope there's not something damaged in the transmission..}

It's a good thing that I have good towing coverage with Allstate Auto Club.
I will still try to get this in there correctly.
It bugs me that I have done on an 89 Camry that my Fiancee owns and that one has stayed in.

peace,

I wonder if you get the correct part. I just looked at CV shafts that I sell, and there are two different ones, looked identical but non-interchangeable. Where did you get yours from, and what is the part number?
