1991 Toyota Camry hesitation on accelaration

A diagnostic check for timing retard results in advancing the timing. Did he jumper Te-1 to E-1 before he started advancing it-if not the ignition timing is still off-it has to be jumpered before you start adjusting timing or the minimun air etc.

The mechanic did the diagnostic first. Because of the unexpected results of the diagnostic test he said he was not able to set the timing.

Its a simple check all he had to do is jump Te-1 to E-1 on the diagnostic check connector and hit it with an inductive timing light if its no 10deg then he has to adljust it.

The way he explained it to me was as follows: He jumped 2 connectors but I'm not sure if it was the 2 you described. I watched him do it and when he jumped them the rpm increased. He told me that the ones he jumped should have retarded it not advanced it so that would be a problem with the jump. Therefore, he said that he could not adjust the timing. I will talk to him tomorrow and get the exact info on his test so that i can tell you more exactly. Thanks for the prompt replies.

When Te-1 to E-1 jumpered, the computer is not controlling the ignition timing

I just talked to my mechanic and got more specific info. He says that when they jump Te1 to E1 as you described the engine advances 10 deg on its own without doing anything to it. I watched them do the jump and thats what it did

When Te-1 and E-1 jumpered and timing reads 10deg BTDC you're good to go.

I want to make sure you understand what i was saying. The engine rpm changes just by putting the jumper in place. My mechanic says that should not happen. Also, my check engine light is still a problem. it doesn't light up when starting the car.

Have him check +B and +B1 red and white wire at ECM pin out to circuit opening relay pin#2 for the CEL See below for Idle
