1991 Toyota Camry Can I use a 91 2.0 Engine in a 90 w/2.5 e

Transmission problem
1991 Toyota Camry 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 200K miles

I have a wrecked 91 Camry 2.0 auto. I want to buy a 90 Camry w/2.5 auto the car has a bad transmission.

Are the compatible? Can my 91 Transaxle bolt up to my 90? Or can I put the 91 Engine and transaxle in the 90?

Based on Mitchell On Demand description, A540E transmission from the V6 will not bolt onto 4 cylinder (normally attached to A140E transmission).

Can a 2.0 with out much trouble be installed in the car with the 2.5?

In my experience, no engine swap is easy. Even when swapping two engines meant for the same car. It can be done, but it not "plug and play".

In your case, you will need to swap the complete engine and transmission (2.0L 3SFE and A140E), all engine harnesses, computer, to the very least. You may also have to re-attach the engine mount brackets to the 1990 body. (The V6 has its engine mounts at different location than the 4 cylinder, if I remember right).
