I recently replaced a few hoses in my cooling system and found out that I also need a new water pump. I plan on replacing the timing belt with the water pump because it's recommened that I do so with this particular car. I seem to have run into another problem with it though. It starts up just fine and sounds great, but when I tried to drive the car to the shop it just wouldn't go. The car begins to accelerate and then loses power. All of my lights begin flashing and the car almost dies, or does completely die. I can start it up again and drive it in reverse without hesitation, but otherwise I cannot move the car. Could this problem be caused by the water pump or is there another problem I need to fix?

You cannot drive forward without it stalling but in reverse will not stall
if so water pump is not the issue
