My car has a oil leak that I'm aware of and its leaking from its oil pan and has for a while now so that car would run out of oil constantly. While I knew I could not afford to get it fixed right away. Now after having my oil light come on while driving I hard this terrifying noise come from my engine. So immediately I pulled over, after adding more oil my engine started to produce this loud knocking noise while idled but it would vanish until I reach 2 or 3k rpms. Is my engine going to go? Do I need to replace all of it?

Hi there,

I would say you have a bearing and low oil pressure problem, you first need to get the engine oil pressure tested with a mechanical gauge i need to know the cold idle pressure hot idle pressure and hot @2000RPM.
