i have a short draw somewheres ...i checked the fuses ..ok when i disconnent the main alternator leads from the harness it gose away...i put a new alterntor on and drain remains...pulling 14 volts....i had a simualr problem once with and olsmobile and it turn out to be the wire that gose from the alternator to the ecm on the charge side was bad and a by pass wire was put in ..there are three wires a thick white one ..ok...and a doubled up green and yellow one ....do you know which one is the ecm charge reture..and which port on the ecm to use...or am i wrong completely...

Hi roy ansell,

For your vehicle, the alternator is not linked to the ECM.

White is always hot from the battery.
Yellow is for the charge indicator light.
Green ( Black/Yellow is shown in our database ) is from the ignition switch.

Draining cannot be tested by voltage. You need an ammeter to gauge the amount of drain.

Does disconnecting the alternator wire stops the draining?
Was the battery tested?

new battery new alternator, dose drain gose away when white wire removed from battery ...no....still showing drain...i also disconnected the starter..still drains....it may be the power door lock relay do you know where its located...they arnt working correctly anyhow ..

Guessing is not going to work.

Disconnect battery negative terminal and attach an ammeter between the battery negative terminal and cable. Wiat a few minutes for the current drain to stabilise.

Note the amperage, if it is more than 0.5 amps, it is bad.
Start pulling the fuses and note the amperage. Any fuse that results in the amperage dropping drastically would be the circuit that is at fault.
