1980 Toyota Camry Hood will not open

My hood willl not open. I heard a pop when I pulled the cable but the hood didn't open the gap needed to open it, as usual. Now, when I pull the latch I don't hear the pop.

Does anyone know anything I could try, or a ballpark figure on getting it repaired.

Hi there,

Do you still have tension on the release lever, do you feel that it may be broken? if not it may be out of adjustment , try having someone push down on the bonnet while you pull the lever, this sometimes releases the latch, if not get a mechanic to put it up on a hoist to trigger the lock from underneath the car, start here.
