My 2001 Avalon is in perfect condition at 95,000 miles. I don't want to take the time to replace the timing belt right now. Is this an interference engine? And if not, has anyone had a bad experience with a belt breaking on this vehicle? Also, where's a good place to buy OEM parts other than direct from the Toyota dealer?
Thanks

I would bet my left you know what that it is! You will be in for a much bigger pai when not if it breaks! Take care of it before the 120,000 count!

Thanks for the vote of confidence on the timing belt. No better here.

I don't understand where the much higher expense will come from if the belt breaks. It is my understanding that the Avalon engine is NOT an interference engine. What say U?
