I recently had my airconditioning checked on my 2001 toyota 4 runner because it didn't feel like it was cooling very well once the day got hotter. The shop replaced the fan clutch. After leaving the repair shop I noticed that when I steped on the gas peddle, a reving sound which made the engine sound louder, occurred. What could they have done to cause this? My engine was always quiet and while excelerating the usual shifting sound could be heard.

the fan clutch is a good Idea. It does not engage when the engine is trying to start because it is dead cold and the fan is not needed for cooling then. this makes starting easier and saves gas. When I drive my 68 datsun with a fan clutch, after about 1 block I hear the fan go vroom which is the sound of the fan clutch engaging and the fan starting to spin.
