After a recent complete brake over-haul, including replacing the clamps, hydraulics, engine filter... I noticed when I accelerate (louder when close to a wall or another vehicle where the sound bounced back to me) a crescendoing grinding noise when the gas paddle is pressed. No performance problem really noted, and otherwise vehicle runs fine. The noise disappears when car is in idle or decelerating. It only makes this sound when in motion, giving gas when parked only revs up the engine. No noise

Anyone have any ideas?

took it to my break job place, they found a leak in the rear differentials causing the tires to squeal... and the grinding sound on acceleration... another $750 ... please tell me I am not getting ripped off..

This sounds like the exact problem mine is having. I haven't done anything with the brakes yet. I've had it for about 17k miles. It has 213k miles. Only makes a rubbing noise when I accelerate not super loud doesn't seem to effect performance. Did fixing the leak in your rear differential fix your problem?

you can always take it for another estimate, kinda sounds like it needs a brake job and seals for axles. normally if brakes are bad and you apply brakes the noise goes away so it means when the brakes aren't applied the brake warning squealers are rubbing against the rotors. the price seems high but prices vary all over and it depends what they are doing price wise anyhow.
