I rebuild my engine for the first time. I haven’t put it back in yet, but I realized that I made a mistake rebuilding it. I didn't pay attention to which way I installed the rings and noticed after I put the whole thing together. I did put the right ones in the right place, but I didn’t pay attention to which side faced up. Now I don’t want to take the engine apart because I don’t have the extra money for new gasket. I am wondering if I really need to wait till I can afford the gaskets, or is this a minor rebuild mistake? What will happen to my compression and how long will this engine last if I do everything else correct. I appreciate your answer even if it’s just an opinion and thank you for your time.
