The timing belt after a couple revolutions starts to move off of the pulleys

The timing belt after a couple revolutions starts to move (not sure if the movement is towards or away from the engine). We have had the vehicle to our mechanic, who called the dealership as well as other mechanics with no resolve to this problem. Our mechanic changed the tensioner/pullies, checked it with a straight edge and cannot see why the timing belt is moving?? HELP

Hello,

Most of the time the reason for the belt to come off the pulley is due to misalignment.
It can also come lose if there is insufficient tension on the belt.

Even it was checked, I think it would be a good idea to inspect the alignment of the pulleys as well as the tension.

Keep in mind that if there was a step that got skipped during the installation it can also have issues like this.

I have attached the replacement procedure for the timing belt below. Look through and see if something was missed.
