Engine Performance problem
1990 Toyota 4Runner 4 cyl Four Wheel Drive Manual
----------------------------------------------------------------
I am in the process of rebuilding my 22re from my 90 efi 4runner. I would like to get a little more power after the rebuild, the vehicle already has a stainless header, would having the block taken 20 over pose any problems with using the stock air intake and injectors, also would the computer be ok with the added displacement. thank you

HI there,

Thank you for the donation.

Taking the engine to .020" is till with in the O/haul specs. and should not cause a problem. i would envisage any optional camshaft profiles available for this engine, You can also ask your auto machinist about some minor porting work, but remember the more you do the less economy you will get and idle quality may be affected as well, The ECU will not be an issue as all engine sensors will still send information as required.
