The mark lines up with the crankshaft gear key. This guide can help as well

Check out the diagrams (Below). Please let us know if you need anything else to get the problem fixed.

The truck listed above has a 3.3 V6. engine with 143,000 miles.
First, I drove the truck for a few miles, and everything was fine. Then, it started missing very very hard, I pulled over and it finally quit running. The truck will not start unless starting fluid is sprayed into the intake. The fuel pump is putting out plenty of pressure, and a check engine light is on, showing a code of Camshaft Position Sensor. Could the Camshaft Position Sensor cause it to act like the fuel pump is out? Also, you cannot replace the Camshaft Position Sensor unless you replace the whole distributor, because it comes together as a whole assembly. Any other ideas?
Thanks.

Good afternoon,

The first thing I would do is verify the distributor is turning when cranking. This sounds like the timing belt may have failed completely. That would stop spark and fuel.

It would also explain the cam sensor code as well. I would check this before spending money on the distributor.

Each gear to the cam has two marks instead of one mark. I will try to send a picture tomorrow. And yes, the chain has colored links to match the timing marks, The question is which of the two marks is correct?

Hi Darlene2508, The timing chain has paint marks on certain links for mating purposes. You need to get them lined up.

If the paint marks are not visible, you need to clean the chain and check for links that are slightly darker to get the mating marks. Ignition Timing - Base 20 +/- 2 Deg. BTDC Check out the diagrams (Below). Please let us know if you need anything else to get the problem fixed. Cheers
