Timing is off

Hello,

The only time that the timing marks will ever line up is when the timing chain/belt is first installed. After that it is just a stroke of pure luck that you will ever get the marks on the crankshaft sprocket and the camshaft sprocket exactly in the first timing position at the same time, but it is still in time. If you are concerned that the timing is off, the only way to be certain is to remove that timing chain/belt and start from scratch. If you are going to the trouble of doing this I would recommend installing a new timing belt and tensioner. In the diagrams down below I have included the instructions from the vehicle manufacturer for the removal and installation of the timing belt on your vehicle.
