Timing chain or new engine, suspect the timing jumped teeth by camshaft?

The check engine light came on and the vehicle started idling hard. I had an engine diagnostic done. It reads found codes P0300, random misfire (cylinders 2 and 4 are constantly misfiring other cylinders are intermittent) P0018,
Crankshaft position/camshaft correlation (B2SA). C1208, L/R wheel speed sensor air gap. C1211, R/R wheel speed sensor air gap. C1513, Brake Switch. We suspect the timing jumped teeth by camshaft.

Do I need a new timing chain or engine?

Hi,

Certainly, if there are no knocking noises and the misfire is the only concern, I would start with checking the timing belt. If it has jumped, replace it to see if that resolves the issue.

This is an interference engine, so there could be internal damage. However, usually, you will hear knocking when cranking or running the engine. If you would rather, you could check engine compression. If you find any of the cylinders with 0 compression, chances are we have bent valves. I would start with cylinders 2 and 4. At least this would prevent you from having to take things apart to inspect the belt.
