There is an index or whatever it is referred to on the outside of the lower timing belt cover that is supposed to be used to check timing. On earlier models it is required that you jumper a couple pins on the Data Terminal Connector to remove any advance that the ecm might be giving it in order to check the timing. In the 2000 version the All Data says to run it at idle and make sure the timing is eight degrees to five degrees advanced and if not replace the ECM. When I throw a timing light on it it looks like around 25 degrees advanced, but I cannot be sure because it is way over to the left. I know the belt is right on perfect. What is the real truth about
