Replacement of belt and balancer. Had timing on marks belt was tight. It tried to turn over. Would not start. third try it would not turn over at all. Nothing. What could be wrong? It was running great besides the noise of the balancer. After it was changed. It would not start?

you either did not take tensioner out and reset it and or did not lock down balance shaft and turned cams to far and now valves are hitting pistons as this is an interference engine. see pictures. this is quite involved for a timing belt and requires numerous of steps.

It still will not do anything. Could it be the crankshaft sensor?

recheck your timing it is probably off and you bent a valve/s because of it if it will not turn over may be the same problem.

It ran fine until changed the balancer, but the gentleman i hired to do it took the timing gear off and then left it. So, i decided to finish the job. I do have mechanical knowledge. I tried to start twice then the third time trying to start. Nothing.

if he took off the timing gear then it was not put together correctly and there is a shimmed washer that could be in the wrong position. do what I said in previous replies.
