It appears to be coming from the #2 cylinder.

We took the valve cover off to see if we could adjust the valves but I have never adjusted the valves on this style of engine.

I am unsure if it is a rod knock or a rocker rattle/valve tap. Given the miles, I don't know how much work has been done on it.

How do I set the valve lash on this engine?

If I don/t set the valves, how do I trouble shoot the tappet/lifter to see if it is stuck?

I was also reading that too small of an oil filter can cause some oil starvation upon startup but the tapping/knocking doesn't seem to go away once its running.

Thank you!

see if the valve opens and closes while idling if it does it's not stuck if it's a knock putll plug wire while idling if knocking noise goes away it may be a rod or piston problem.
