Hello,

The purge solenoid makes the ticking noise means it is functional. If it becomes loud, then it is a sign of an internal failure of the solenoid. You should not hear it from inside the vehicle.
It can also make rapid ticking noise if there is a leak.
That will typically turn on the check engine light.

Is your check engine light illuminated?
If so scanning and retrieving the code can help determine if there is an issue with the emission system or purge solenoid.

I have attached the solenoid test procedure below for your reference.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thank you.

The fuel trim becomes high when the PCM thinks that the air fuel ratio is too lean and adding fuel to bring the mixture to within the correct range.

Are you experiencing any drivability issues?

no, drivability issues. Can a bad purge solenoid cause high fuel trims?

Yes, a faulty purge solenoid can impact the fuel trim. You can try the test for functionality of the solenoid.

I also heard this rapid ticking noise and I've replaced the purge valve 3 times. There is a leak in the evap hose, not yet fixed, soon to be though. However, the check engine code that i get is p0443 evap emission system purge control valve circuit. So, i am wondering if it's an electrical issue or if it's because of the leak.

Thanks
