Ticking noise

Ticking noise starts as throttle is applied, and gets loader as the engine accelerates. The noise stops when the accelerator is released and the engine returns to idle.

just by what I read is that the valves need adjusting, the higher the rpm the more it will tick. There may be a undelinging problem but that is where I would start looking. If you have a old piece of garden hose, cut it off so there is about two feet. With engine running take one end and put it on the valve cover, Then take the other part and put it close to your ear, It acts like a microphone and you should be able to hear the ticking. Move it over the valve cover and se if it gets louder. if it does then that is the area the valve lash might be.
