If my truck does not have a carburetor, does it still need a throttle position sensor?

Also, the truck sometimes spits and sputters really badly like it’s going to run out of gas or something. I was kind of thinking maybe there was air getting in the fuel line. But I replaced the fuel filter but that didn’t help so that’s when I started thinking maybe it was air? But I’m probably incorrect.

Yes, your truck has and needs a throttle position sensor. Have you installed new spark plugs, wires and cap and rotor? I would start there and let's run the codes to see if any are stored. Here is a guide to help you with it:

If the TPS is bad it will cause the problem, you are describing

Spark plug Gap .................... 0.8 - 0.9 mm (0.031 - 0.035 in)
