Have been hearing a clunk when turning wheels hard especially backing up. I've checked CV joint/axle with no luck. Today doing brakes I found this having out of its spot.

Hi,

Where is that located? I ask because it appears to be a bearing issue and not the actual CV joint.

If I'm correct, this has an intermediate shaft bearing and that is what appears to have failed. I added the directions below for replacing it. Check this first.

Let me know.

Okay, so, I see it says replace front wheel drive shaft orings any time shaft is removed. When I replaced the wheel hub assembly would I have needed to replace those rings?

Sorry for so many posts but doing more research than different questions. My last car had a manufactured CV joint boot so want able to be replaced had to replace whole drive shaft and joint. So, the intermediate drive shaft connecting to the CV axle is what makes up the CV joint?

Hi,

As long as nothing gets damaged, you should be fine to reuse them. How far as you at this point? If you send me some pictures of what you are doing, it may help me to direct you better.

Let me know.
