Anti-theft

Try locking and unlocking the truck from outside and check all your fuses with a test light. It sounds like you tripped a theft deterrent.

Truck was turning over but not firing or getting fuel. Assumed it was anti theft. Tried a reset trick, now it will not crank. Also, anti theft light is blinking fast. Let me add. The anti theft light was flashing fast before trying anything. I do not have a second key. The "trick" was door open, ignition on, disconnect and reconnect the battery. Something I saw online. So, that is the only option? Is it possible that certain shops may have the scan tool? Or dealer only?

I would try a hard system reboot this is done by removing the negative battery cable from the battery and holding it to the positive battery terminal for 1 minute this will discharge the system capacitors.

The system hard reboot worked for me btw.

Hi I have a 99 ranger and I lost the key and my dad tried to make my none chipped key work and he set the anti theft on so I don't get fuel or spark and I have tried rebooting by undoing the negative and touching the positive multiple times and all my fuses are good so what can I do? I bought this truck before my birthday last year put a motor in it and only got to drive it like 10 times and no one said they can help me

If you have a (vpats) chipped key you will have to replace with another chipped key.Non chipped keys will not work.Here is a tutorial showing how to reset the anti-theft/security system but it's probably going to be a long shot by having your non chipped key:

i have had this truck for 4 yrs and didn't even know it had an anti theft system. i changed the battery and now the alarm goes off and it won't start. i disabled the horn i have power but no start

I'm wanting to know if it is possible to add a car alarming system with remote start and auto door locks if my 98 ranger has neither a previous alarm nor auto doorlocks?

There are aftermarket accessories available that can be added for this. It is somewhat of a specialty service that not all shops get involved with. But a few phone calls should be able to narrow it down
