The Holley 6280 feed back 2 barrel carburetor, couple of questions.

So the car seems to run better with the carburetor's 4 pin electrical plug unplugged...

What is the actual function of the 6280's "mixture solenoid"??

What does the ground switch on the solenoid ground?? What now is not grounded?

What is the computer now seeing with this connector not connected??

The mixture solenoid controls the fuel mixture. The computer monitors an 0/2 sensor and pulse width modulates the solenoid to match engine needs.

Ok, so with the solenoid connected and the engine running shitty it must be going too lean??

With it unplugged, it defaults full rich right? So with it unplugged it is running better because it is being over fueled..

I was only getting about 10-11mpg out of the last two tanks of fuel.. This things is definitely not up too snuff.

I think i will be ordering a 2280 and mechanical distributor.

I don't know where you are getting any of your logic from. None of it is accurate. As I stated, this is a computer operated system that can have failures anywhere. It needs some serious diagnosis.

Oh I know..

I have done the diagnosis, prognoses? The solenoid in the carb is dead.
