The green light for the D on the dash not working

Hi,

The way this works is the gauge assembly gets a power feed from the fuse panel but the gauge assembly has an internal CPU that controls the lighting circuits. This means that if the D is the only one that is not working then you have an internal issue to the gauge assembly. Either it is the bulb itself or an issue on the driver circuit.

Unfortunately, it appears the only way to repair this is to take it apart or replace it.

Hi thank you. I Googled how to change the dash bulbs and this came up on YouTube. 2002 Honda civic instrument cluster test. It sweeps the gauges and checks the lights. The D didn't light up so when I did the test.I will go for the bulb first. Looking at the diagram it looks like if the driver was bad that all the bulbs would be out. Am I correct?I thought you could use the info it shows for yourself and others in the future.

No. If the entire driver is bad then all the drive lights would be out, D, D3, D2. However, individual circuits in the driver could fail but I am with you to do the bulb first.

Thanks for your time I will update you soon. I ordered 2 bulbs It's starting to get cold here...unless you tell me that the bulb completes a circuit and will effect the car negatively. I will do it when i can. My wife needs 2 surgeries on top of this. I know it's not hard job. Now just finding the time. Have a great day!

No. Just brittle plastic as you mentioned. Use a trim stick. They sell them at most parts stores but it makes prying easier and you break less stuff.
