I am in need of info for replacing the front sway/stabilizer bar (DIY). The local dealership quoted about $1,500.00 to do the job. Can I not do this myself?

Good afternoon,

Yes, you can do this yourself. It will be tight but you can do it. You will need to jack it up and put it on jack stands for this procedure.

$1,500.00 was way high. It pays 2 hours for the labor which is about $399.00.

I attached the procedure for you for this repair. I would replace the end links as well as they are common and you have to remove them anyway.

Hey Roy,

Thanks for getting back so quickly. I'm sorry i miss spoke earlier about that quote.. They told me the cause of all my clunking noise was worn out links, and strut assemblies. Got new and replaced myself, no problem. I had previously been told my bushings were worn, so i ordered new Moog's, I couldn't get access to them, so took it to them to do. after better assessing the situation, they had told me to do this the hole undercarriage crossmember needed to be dropped in order to do it, thus the high quote. Now, can I or not do this, knowing (the rest of the story), hahaha.

Okay. yes, you can. The cross member does not have to be dropped. The instructions say nothing about that at all.

Oh, okay. it looked like in the fourth pic it states the cautions of marking it before removal. as to not mess up the alignment. I'm just wondering if i can get it high enough might need to get some taller jack stands, or bock up under them. I'll give it my best. thanks for the info.
