1999 Suzuki Grand Vitara need help asap

I have a 99 trckers/ vitara same truck but mine is the tracker 4dr. 2l 4x4 my driversside headlight works but is really dim i put in new blubs but still dim ... someone grounded the highbeam wire before i bought it and i took it off to get the light to work is there any way to make it bright again???? plz help need it to get to work thanks
