1996 Suzuki Vitara Heater switch off

Hi John, Thank you for the donation. There are 3 cables behind the control panel and they are for the mode, heater/cooling and fresh/recirculating air. If the heater is not cutting off, the air mix door is not closing correctly so you need to check the cable adjustment. In the diagram the 2 red arrows indicate the cables that you should check.

Place the temperature control lever in HOT position. Place air flow control lever to defrost position. Place air intake control lever to fresh position. Ensure control levers do not move while attaching appropriate cable with cable clip.

Thanks guys I found the problem,
the rubber duct from the fan, which is just above the passenger footwell was out of position.
I suspect it had been knocked by a passenger and this was preventing the flap that re directs the airflow from shutting fully.
It now works a treat so problem solved many thanks
