1992 Suzuki Grand Vitara 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual

the tranmission shifter pulled out of the transmission. The transmission is hard to get into reverse most of the time.
There is a spring under the boot. What holds the shifter in to the trans?

On my '02 Tracker, on the shifter there is a cup with slots which fits over the 2 bolts that project into the shifter hole. The spring hold tension on this cup to keep it from unlatching. My spring has broke, so sometimes the cup comes loose,
