2004 Suzuki Verona Engine burning oil

We were told the Veronas are known for burning 5 quarts of oil between oil changes. This comes from a dealer. My daughter's verona is loosing several quarts of oil and has oil on the side of the motor. when taken to the dealer, he said they are nortoriuos for burning 5 quarts between oil changes and this was noted in the owners manual. I find this hard to believe.

I have the same problem with my 2004 Verona. This car has given me nothing but problems since I have owned it.
