Electrical problem
1994 Suzuki Swift 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual

The key will no longer turn the switch past off/lock position..The key is ok, problem in the lock barrel ..
I have a replacement and key on the way..
Question is ..How do you get the old one off???
The mount strap is attached to the stearing shaft cover with riviets..I am about to remove the wheel..Then what? Looks to be driven on ?
Thanks for any advice.

Has 165,000 miles and engine runs great...daily driver but it's stuck in the driveway!

IGNITION SWITCH & COLUMN LOCK NOTE:Manufacturer recommends removing steering column before removing steering column lock. See REMOVAL & INSTALLATION in the STEERING COLUMN article in the STEERING section. Removal Ensure front wheels are pointed straight ahead. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove steering wheel, horn pad and combination switch. See STEERING WHEEL & HORN PAD and COMBINATION SWITCH. Remove steering column. See REMOVAL & INSTALLATION in the STEERING COLUMN article in the STEERING section. Using a hammer and drift punch, loosen shear bolts from column lock assembly. DO NOT damage aluminum part of steering lock body with drift punch. Turn ignition switch to ACC or ON position. Remove column lock assembly from steering column. See Fig. 5 and Fig. 6 . Edit update: Dont try this at home

If this happens to anyone else..

If it's NOT locked: It will most likely com off with a tap to the strap and slide up and off. No need to mess with the pins

If it's locked : yikes
The pins are threaded so knock them left or counterclockwise..key piece of info
Mine were Stuck..so i ground a notch with a dremmel and hit against the notch..once i got it out i just bent the strap rather than fool with the other
