1988 Suzuki Samurai Oil Changes

A friend of mine drains the oil out of his truck then puts in 4 quarts of diesel and runs the truck for 5 min.
Then drains diesel and changes oil and filter. He claims this cleans out the sludge. I have my doubts.
Would this be a good idea for my Suzuki.
