Last week I noticed that my brakes were grinding. Also, when I initially started accelerating I could hear a "whirring" sound coming from the front wheels. I called and scheduled a repair with the dealership.
I checked the brake fluid level- it was fine. I also checked to see if there was any leaking but did not notice any fluid on the ground beneath my car. I recently (October 2006) had front rotors and brake pads put on and the system was flushed at that time. For some inexplicable reason the ABS sensors malfunctioned at the same time (after the initial repair to the brakes) and I had to have them replaced as well. Just yesterday the brakes completely failed, the pedal went almost all the way to the floor- it would stop but the pedal had to be pumped a few times. It sounds like the master cylinder to me but could there be any other alternative (and less expensive) explanations?
