Noises problem

Hi all, you have the model car i have spelt incorrectly in your list of cars on the site, its suzuki ignis not suzuki ignus. Ok her is my problem, i here these fairly loud expansion/cracking noises coming from my engine. The noises are audible upon switch off and cool down and also can be heard if the car is at operating temperature and idling at a traffic light for example. The noises are metallic sounding in nature, crack crack crack. It keeps doing this and i want to figure out what is causing this. Now i don't believe its normal expansion noises in the exhaust because its pretty loud and just doesnt sound right. My best guess is that its coming from the exhaust manifold area but i am not sure.
