How to clean out coolant charger canister

Hi,

I am not familiar with this part (coolant charger canister). Can you maybe take a picture of what you are referring too or do you know another name for it?

S281 Saleen supercharger.

I added 50/50 coolant I think it takes oil.

Oh. That is certainly different than a 2006 Mustang as it said in the header.

That is your air to water intercooler. This takes coolant. In fact it should be more of an 80/20 mix of water and coolant however, you will not hurt it by using 50/50. You should be good to go. Nice car!

I see white residue around the top and it is oily.

Okay. Can you get a picture of that as well? Clearly this is normally oil and coolant mixed but the cap is clearly marked inter-cooler and you don't add oil to an inter-cooler. The purpose of the inter-cooler is remove the heat from the air as it enters the engine. Cooler air has a higher density which means more oxygen and more oxygen means more fuel. More fuel means more power.

If you put oil in the inter-cooler it would not remove the heat and it would clog the heat exchanger.

If there is oil in the inter-cooler system, it was either put in there, or you possible have a leak in the engine portion which in theory could allow oil in the system. However, this is a sealed and separate system. See the attached diagram. Have you had to add coolant frequently?

They have oil for the intercooler. I don't know if mines does

Are you saying that some inter-coolers require oil? I have never seen any of these so that would be a new one on me. Take a look at the attachments. First one explains why there may be some oil in the inter-cooler. Second one is a picture of your cap. This symbol that I circled is a water to air symbol, so it does not take oil.

I am not sure where you are getting the information from that you would put oil in the intercollegiate but to my knowledge this is incorrect.
