Sub woofer and enclosure fitment for the three door ext cab

I haven't found an exact picture of what these boxes look like. I'm looking for a box that will go all the way across, under the back bench seat. I'd also like to k ow which direction the speakers fire, what's the mounting depth and where can I get one without breaking the bank. Not looking for anything fancy. Just a carpeted enclosure would be just fine.

I'd also like to know what it an overall good 2ohm bass speaker brand? I'm not looking to bust the windows out of the truck but I'd like to have the option to have some kick if I need it. What speaker do you suggest? Any amp suggestions? Crutchfield doesn't give me much to go on.

Hello, I'm Danny.

I had put a system in my 1997 ext cab... Is your truck ext cab or crew cab?Are you looking for 10 or 12 in subs? I had 12's and it fit under the seat and fired forward.. Usually 10's are more compact and fire upward. I will get you a picture.. Free air sub woofers are more compact requiring less space. What I suggest for brand would be Rockford Fosgate and they make both versions in free air and 2ohm. 2ohm speakers can give you more power from a smaller size amplifier wattage wired differently.Hope this helps and get back to me when you can. Hey Danny. Thanks for the information.The firing of 12s and 10s is what I thought so thank you for the conformation. If subs fired upwards into the seat, wouldn't that muffled the sound? I always wondered that. Also, when you say "free air", do you mean a ported box or something to do with the sub? Never heard of that. What is the difference between free air and 2ohm?Speaking of ported or not,what are your thoughts on the box? Finally, if I go with 2 2ohm subs, what would he your recommendation on size and type of amp? How would you wire it? Where does the RMS come into play? I know, I ask a lot, lol.

These are the 10 and 12 boxes that are made for the 1988-1998 Chevrolet/GMC- Silverado/Sierra under seat sub woofer boxes. The box I personally had in my 1997 is the last picture. Free air sub woofers are used for boxes that are generally non ported and smaller in size. You will have to buy sub woofers that are capable of being wired for 2ohm capability. Wiring an amplifier as 2ohm compared to the standard 4ohm will increase the wattage by twice the output.Hope this helps and thanks for using 2CarPros.
