Well, I'm basically having trouble understanding "Distributorless Ignition system" and how the camshaft position sensor works to sync with the crankshaft position sensor.

Sensors and computer take place of mechanical distributor. Cam tells computer which cylinders in firing order are at TDC. The crank tells which piston is at TDC
when computer sees in sync it will fire appropiate plug.
This is simple explination a lot of other inputs are monitored to fire plug.

How does the cam sensor know this, by counting the tooth on the cam reluctor wheel or is there some kind of marking.

Yes sensors are electromagnetic so a reluctor on cam and crank when it passes by sensor creates a current sent to computer and this tells position of pistons and cam. PROM fires plugs in correct order in relation to RPM, Throttle position, ect.
