I just had the rack and pinion replaced on my 03 subaru outback sport. The guy warned me the steering would be stiff, but it seems that there is no power steering at all.
Turn the wheel right around a corner and the wheel stays turned right - no automatic turning back to center. Same with left turns. He checked the power steering fluid - said it's fine. Also said "I didn't drive it before, so I don't know." Well I did, for 6 years, and something's wrong.
He lubed up some of the steering mechanisms and said I could bring it back in a couple days and he'd take it all apart and see what's up. I'd like to have something to tell him when I bring it back. Any ideas?
