My repair shop installed a new 130amp alternator instead of a 90amp as noted in the owner's manual.

Are there potential risks to my electrical system components using an alternator with higher amperage?

Thank you

Hi Ray,

The higher amperage means a faster charging rate and should not affect anything except maybe a heavier load felt at idling when more current is needed from the alternator.

If you use a lot of accessories such as amplifiers, spot lights, it would be better for the battery.
