1998 Subaru Outback Smell oil burning

When we go up a steep hill, we can smell oil burning. The car doesn't seem to be using a lot of oil and there are no oil puddles under the car where we park it.

check the cv boot on the front right side and see if it is the gear grease being thrown on the muffler
