1996 Subaru Outback slow starting

I have replaced the battery and the alternator. Seems like the trouble is in the electrical system, as when I accelerate, the lights brighten and the blower motor speed increases. I have returned 1 new alternator already (presumably bad). Is their another part of the charging system I am overlooking?? The car is VERY slow to start, and at 1 or two points has refused to start. Just a very slow cranking. It has been cold, but we never had this trouble before and I am afraid it will let my wife down. please help. -Joe

I need to know if it is a legacy or impreza outback. Get back to me and I will look over the wiring diagram for the starting and charging system and see what we can figure out from there.

Ok before we get to far into this I would like you to check a couple of fuses. These fuses are for the charging system. In the underhood fuse box on the left side there is a slow blow fuse, it is fuse number 4 and is 45 amp. The other fuse to check number 15 in the fuse box inside the car it is a 10 amp. If these fuses are good then I would like you to use a digital multi meter to check the white wire at the back of the alternator see if it has power. Let me know what you find ok.
