My CV joints need replacement. The mechanic (who also works on other Subarus) says that he is unable to remove the axles to repair the joints. He says that the "splines" seem to be jammed in the place where they are supposed to come out and he can't get them removed even with his pulley "helper" and a 5 foot bar.
The mechanic doesn't know what else to do. Is there any special trick that he needs to know to get the job going? He says that he has never seen this situation before and that includes working on other Subarus.

Inner CV joint has roll pin holding it on. Use drift pin punch to remove and axle will come out easily.
P.S. Subaru has done this for many years
