[quote:1789cce566="merlin2021"]Pull all spark plugs, buy or rent a compression test gauge. Screw the gauge into each plug hole one at a time, crank engine so piston goes TDC 3 times, record your numbers. Post result...if you see real low numbers, under 100 psi Not if it's two cylinders toghether, which could be a head gasket. Let us know what you find, Has the timming belt been changed yet? I think it's 60,000 miles in most states. Ca, ans Mass it's 105,000.[/quote:1789cce566]
Thank you! Timing belt has been changed in the last 10,000 miles. one of the gears froze and tore it to shreds. replaced the belt and the gear. question: should i only pull one spark plug at a time? (do i leave others in when I test each plug hole?)
About 2 months ago I drove from Denver CO to Austin TX. I imagine the difference in altitude could be quite an adjustment. I blew a radiator hose on the way and the radiator has given me trouble ever since, as if the thermostat is off now. could this be part of the problem?
Thanks again, I'll make a donation sometime this week.
