1991 subaru justy

My justy is an 89' but I'm pretty sure they're all the same. first i would drain the radiator there is a plug on the bottom drivers side i believe. then remove the air filter and air filter pan the thermostat is under there. next you can see the hose that comes off of the radiator to the engine. just losen those two bolts remove old thermostat and seal and replace. I have chilton book and it lead me to the lower radiator hose and that was wrong.

my haynes shows it to be underneath the intake manifold, with a bunch of parts to be removed just to get to it?
